Students at Oak View Elementary School recently celebrated their successful fun run. The school raised $37,500 in the fundraiser to use for various fun events and activities this year, which was $7,500 over their goal.
To celebrate, students gathered to watch their teachers compete in a basketball competition. Kindergarten through second grade and third through fifth grade teachers competed against each other, with one teacher representing each grade level, to see who could make the most baskets in one minute. Ms. Aulik, a kindergarten teacher, and Ms. Somercik, a third grade teacher, came out ahead, winning gift cards for all of the teachers in that grade level to use in their classrooms from the PTO.
After the basketball competitions, students and staff moved outside to watch Principal Mock and Assistant Principal Seppala compete in a pie contest. The students loudly cheered them on as they competed to see who could find a piece of bubble gum at the bottom of the pie tin of whip cream, without using their hands, and blow a bubble first.
