The Minnesota state legislature passed the Free School Meals for Kids program into law this spring, which takes effect this September for the 2023-24 school year and beyond. Because of this law, all K-12 students attending school in person will have a free school breakfast and lunch available to them each academic school day beginning in September, excluding a la carte menu items.
Beginning this school year, tickets for all Osseo Area Schools home athletic and activities events must be purchased online. This includes events at Maple Grove, Osseo, and Park Center senior high schools.
This summer, students in the Summer Kidstop program at Rice Lake Elementary School had the opportunity to participate in a student-led service-learning project. Students decided to make tie blankets for donation to Children's Minnesota. To support the project, Kidstop families and staff generously donated a variety of fleece fabrics. In total, 10 students made 47 tie blankets. Kidstop staff delivered the blankets this past week.
